Broken No More is formed with the hope that more enlightened drug policies may help stem the tide of addiction and overdose.

Broken No More is an organization formed by families and friends of those suffering a substance use disorder. We have lived through the trauma of addiction with our loved ones and witnessed the devastating consequences. Many of us have experienced the loss of a loved one due to the tragedy of overdose. Broken No More was created with the hope that more enlightened drug policies will reduce stigma and help stem the tide of addiction and overdose deaths.

OUR GOALS ARE:

  • To provide support, knowledge, and information for those who have lost a loved one to a drug-related death. This is a unique loss, often preceded by months or years of turmoil and suffering for both the individual and their families.

  • To educate the public about the realities of substance use disorders. Our goal is to raise awareness that these are medical conditions and should be treated as such. We work to change attitudes towards people suffering from these disorders, eliminate stigma, and increase understanding of the difficulties faced by those living with addiction. We also promote scientifically valid treatment options such as Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (methadone and buprenorphine), and contingency management for stimulant use disorders. .

  • To change the way people with substance use disorders are treated in our society and to end the epidemic of lost and destroyed lives. Until the stigma and shame are removed from those who suffer from addiction, progress toward therapeutic rather than punitive responses will not occur.

  • To change existing failed policies regarding drug use. Broken No More rejects the failed punitive policies of the drug war and the infantile fantasy of a “drug-free world.” Instead, we support policies based on public health, Harm Reduction, and science. We do so with the firm belief that respect, compassion, and the sanctity of human life are rights afforded to all and that the use of drugs is not a forfeiture of these rights.
